Ames could ban all smoking

October 11, 2000 By admin

The Ames City Council voted last night to expand a proposed ban on smoking in restaurants to include bars and other public places. Council member Ann Campbell made the motion to expand the ban.Campbell says some people were concerned the ban on restaurants would discriminate against other establishments. The Ames City Council has asked the city attorney to work up a new ordinance that includes bars and other public places in the smoking ban. The council will discuss the issue again at its next meeting later this month.
