October 17, 2000 By admin

Woodbury County officials are working with state tax collectors to track down people who live in Iowa, but register their cars in South Dakota. Assistant County Attorney Mark Campbell says the violators try to make it look like they live in South Dakota.Campbell says Woodbury County’s working with the Iowa Department of Revenue and Finance to catch the offenders.Campbell says evading vehicle registration taxes in Iowa may save people money in the short run, but it could end up costing a lot in the long run as it’s a felony charge that also carries fines.Campbell says the tax cheats hurt everyone in the state as the money from the tax is used to fix state roads.
