Bettendorf looks to ban riding in the back of trucks

Bettendorf is joining other Quad City area towns that either have or are working on an ordinance prohibiting riding in the back of pick-up trucks. The Bettendorf city council passed the first reading of the ordinance.City administrator Decker Ploehn says a state law is needed.The issue has drawn a lot of attention since a Davenport boy riding in the back of a pickup was killed in an accident last summer.
