The Executive Director of the “National Association of People with Aids” spoke today at a state conference on HIV and AIDS in Des Moines. Terje Anderson says the federal government isn’t doing enough to help AIDS victims. He says there has been some improvements over the last eight years, but the federal government has never taken a leadership role. He says the presidential candidates aren’t talking about the issue.He says the presidential candidates don’t have any pressure to talk about the issue because polls show people don’t care.Anderson says the epidemic of AIDS is running rampant in America’s poor. He says poor people are too worried about finding enough food to eat and a place to stay to worry about AIDS.The conference on HIV/AIDS runs today through tomorrow.
