Cedar Rapids man sues care center over mother’s death

The son of a Cedar Rapids woman who committed suicide at a care center has filed a lawsuit against the facility.51-year old Ann Harford set herself on fire in December of 1999 while living at the Abbe Center for Community Care near Cedar Rapids. Harford’s son Steve is suing the center for damages. Harford claims his mother suffered from a mental disorder and had previously attempted suicide. The lawsuit says employees of the center failed to identify Ann Harford’s need for supervision.
