Gore focuses on environment in Iowa stop

Democrat presidential candidate Al Gore focused on environmental policy during a mid-day speech today in Davenport. Gore criticized republican rival George W. Bush’s environmental record in Texas, where Gore said sprawling Houston has become the nation’s smoggiest city.Today, a panel of scientists concluded man-made pollution is “contributing substantially” to global warming. Gore says Americans need to pick the “hard right over the easy wrong” when it comes to dealing with global warming. He says the U-S should take the leadership role in developing cleaner cars and heating sources.Gore has proposed tax cuts for automakers and utilities that make adjustments to address emissions problems.
