Controversy continues in Davenport as City Administrator Jim Pierce now appears to be on his way out. City Alderman and Mayor Phil Yerington sent a letter to Pierce asking him to resign or be fired and lose his 73-thousand dollar severance package. Yerington and the alderman are upset because Pierce hired Scott County Sheriff Mike Bladel as police chief without consulting them. They say Pierce was also part of a failed city loan to a manufacturer, and problems in the police department. Yerington says Pierce has told him he will make a decision by Thursday.Yerington says the city would start an immediate search for a successor if Pierce decides to resign.
