ISU alum returns as athletic director

Iowa State University introduced Bruce Van De Velde as the school’s new athletic director. Van De Velde had served as senior associate athletic director at Oklahoma and is an I-S-U alum. Van De Velde says his lifelong goal has been to work at an institution like ISU.Van De Velde says he is thrilled with the appointment. He says it’s a professional milestone that he has worked hard and long for, for many many years.Van De Velde says he wants to build on the recent success of the athletic department. He promised to have the Cyclone athletic programs on the cutting edge.Van De Velde replaces Gene Smith who resigned to become the new a-d at Arizona State.
