While October brought some dips in temperature, the month ended up being warmer than normal. State climatologist Harry Hillaker says the statewide average temperature was two-point-seven degrees above normal.It was the warmest October in 27 years. Hillaker says it was the 27th warmest October since records have been kept. He says an early dip in the temperatures kept the month from moving higher on the list as we had temperatures down to 14 degrees in the first week of the month.He says October was just a little drier than normal.The average precipitation was one-point-eight inches last month compared to the annual average of two-point-six. Hillaker sees this month continuing the warmer and drier trend.Hillaker says the state could still use some extra rainfall to replenish the soil.
