U-S Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman was in Mason City last night. He says the problems surrounding the genetically modified StarLink corn need to be taken care of immediately by getting the corn out of circulation.Glickman says it was a huge mistake to have StarLink approved for animal feed, but not for human consumption. He says that’s caused a lot of problems, even though he doesn’t think the corn is unsafe.Glickman says the federal government is going to work with the feed and grain industry and cooperatives to see what they can do to clarify the situation.Glickman hopes there will not be any problems with biotech grain such as this in the months ahead. The Food and Drug Administration Wednesday released a list of 300 products made with unapproved biotech corn that have been recalled. Glickman was in Iowa to campaign for democrat presidential candidate Al Gore.
