A series of five concerts in Iowa starts tonight to highlight the campaign to convince Iowa youth that smoking’s bad. M-T-V’s Yes Duffy of “Road Rules” will be at the concerts, where dance-pop artist “Kristine W” will perform. Yes Duffy spoke today at a news conference at the Iowa Statehouse.Yes Duffy says tobacco use has hurt his friends and family, and he wants to help do something about it.The concerts in Council Bluffs, Sioux City, Des Moines, Waterloo and Davenport are free for teens. “Kristine W” says she couldn’t turn down the offer to headline the concerts.The Iowa campaign seeks to counter tobacco advertising, which Kristine W terms “infectious.”The concert’s part of the “Just Eliminate lies” campaign being directed by a group of Iowa teenagers.”Kristine W” has played more gigs in Las Vegas than any other present day performer, but ended her Vegas show in 1998 to focus on her album’s release. Here’s the schedule for the concerts: (tonight) November 9 at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs from 6 to 8 p.m.; (Saturday) November 11 at Briarcliff Community College in Sioux City from 6 to 8 p.m.; (Sunday) November 12 at Drake University in Des Moines from 2 to 4 p.m.; (Monday) November 13 at Holiday Inn Convention Center in downtown Waterloo from 6 to 8 p.m.; (Tuesday) November 14 at Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds in Davenport from 6 – 8 p.m.
