Clinton City Administrator resigns

November 15, 2000 By admin

An eastern Iowa city official abruptly resigned from his job last night. Clinton city administrator George Langmack quit after 13 years. The council voted late last month to terminate Langmack’s employment agreement, but the mayor vetoed the plan. Mayor Lametta Wynn read Langmack’s resignation letter at last night’s meeting. The letter said Lanmack recognized the termination by the council last month. While the council never gave a reason for the friction with Langmack, there were indications some members were unhappy with how he conducted the recent search for a new police chief.
