The chairman of the Iowa Republican Party says George W. Bush’s campaign will likely decide tonight if it will ask for a recount of the votes in Iowa. Kayne Robinson has been watching the canvass of the vote in Iowa the last two days and is advising the Bush campaign.Robinson says it’s conceivable Bush could request a recount in Iowa even if he wins Florida’s 25 electoral votes and is named President-elect. He says it is in the interest of the Republicans to win the state because of several reasons, including delegates to the national convention.Robinson says the recount of Iowa’s 99 counties would be to find mistakes, not because of any voter fraud. Robinson says the canvass has shown mistakes that add up to thousands of votes that change both ways.Democrat Al Gore defeated Bush by about 41-hundred votes in Iowa.
