Des Moines man arrested for killing his own dog

November 17, 2000 By admin

A Des Moines man who claimed that someone killed his golden retriever puppy was arrested for the crime Thursday. Des Moines Police Lieutenant Kelly Willis says 20-year old Paul Cox faces two charges, making a false report and animal neglect. Both charges are serious misdemeanors.Willis says the six-month-old dog named Lucky was cruelly killed. Its legs were taped together and a bag was taped over its head, suffocating the animal.Cox had claimed Monday that he tried to revive the dog when he found it. But, Willis says the evidence all pointed to Cox as the culprit. He says they even found a letter on Cox’s computer that was taped to the dog’s body.Willis doesn’t know what motivated Cox to kill the puppy.
