High gasoline prices and threatened problems with air travel won’t keep Iowans home for the upcoming holiday, according to predictions from the Triple-A Motor Club of Iowa.Triple-A spokesman Daron Van Helden says nearly 39-million Americans will be traveling at least 100-miles from home this week, more than 31-million of them by motor vehicle. He says the bounding gasoline prices are not frightening many people to stay in town.The Triple-A survey finds Iowa gas prices are averaging a dollar-52 a gallon which is 36-cents higher than a year ago. He says the price of air travel has risen an average of 13-percent from last year. Since weather could play a role in Iowans’ travel plans, Van Helden has a few words of advice. He says you should plan ahead and take plenty of to get where you’re going.This is expected to be a record travel weekend for the holiday, with about five-percent more people traveling than Thanksgiving a year ago.
