Fighter planes from all across the country will be landing in Sioux City to get a new coat of paint. The National Guard has opened a new paint facility at the Air National Guard base as the Sioux City airport. Guard Commander Colonel Tom Considine says the paint operation will employ 14 full-time workers.The four million-dollar facility will be used to paint approximately 100 Air Guard planes each year. Considine says Sioux City will get all the National Guard’s paint business, as it’s the only such Guard facility in the nation.Brigadier General Paul Kimmel, Chief Operating Officer of the National Guard in Washington D.C., credits local guard members for coming up with the idea to locate the paint facility in Sioux City.
