The Drake Relays will be adding a third day of events next year. New Relays director Mark Kostek had added ten running events to Thursday’s program following the conclusion of the decathlon and heptathalon as well as five field events. Kostek says the change will allow officials more flexibility for the rest of the weekend.Kostek says the expansion will allow the Relays to offer more women’s and high school girl’s events.Kostek says the added events should provide a better atmosphere for the final day of the decathlon and heptathalon, which until now had gone virtually unnoticed. The Drake Relays has been a two-day program since back in 1922.
