State officials say a new magazine that seeks to get young people to stay in Iowa is getting good reviews. Lieutenant Governor Sally Pederson says the magazine “Iowa Next” targets two groups of young Iowans, those who’re graduating college and looking for jobs, and those who have “floated around” in low wage jobs without seeking to upgrade their skills. The magazine is published through a partnership between the state and private businesses.Students can respond to the magazine through a website at www.iowanext.com. Pederson says they know that young Iowans are looking at the magazine and like it.Pederson says more than 120-thousand copies of the magazine were distributed to high school juniors and seniors across Iowa. Pederson says the magazine is part of the administration’s effort to grow Iowa’s population and reduce the shortage of skilled workers.
