Iowans who are anxious to get out on the ice and do some fishing may be risking their lives.Many Iowa lakes and streams have ice that’s only an inch or so thick. Iowa Department of Natural Resources fisheries technician Jon Christenson says it needs to be at least two, if not three inches thick before it’s suitable.Christenson says ice-fishing enthusiasts need to be cautious as it’ll likely be a few more weeks before the ice is suitable.If warmer weather moves in, it may be January before Iowa’s ice anglers can lower their lures.
