Powerball sales continue to zoom along

Iowans who hope to buy Powerball tickets today can plan to stand in line for an extra minute or two. The jackpot is the second largest of the year and ticket sales are expected to be extremely brisk.Iowa Lottery spokeswoman Karen Smith says nearly 478-thousand Powerball tickets were sold in Iowa yesterday — that’s better than 500 per minute. Smith says today’s ticket buyers will need to be patient as there will be some lines.Smith says the Powerball jackpot was at 129-point-six million dollars at the start of business this morning.It there’s no winner tonight, the jackpot may balloon to 165-million for the Saturday drawing.
