A Wisconsin-based beef-packing company is recalling some of the products it shipped to Iowa. American Foods Group Inc. of Green Bay is recalling a little over a million pounds of ground beef sent to 15 states, including Iowa, early in November. Company officials say -no- tests have confirmed any contamination, but there is possibility recent serious illnesses may be related to its beef. American Foods spokesman Henry Hubbard says only one brand name of questionable beef was sent to Iowa stores. It was sold in three-pound tubes with the “B-Bar” brand name, a sell-by date of November 2nd and an establishment number of 4-1-0. Hubbard says these packages were sent out to stores more than a month ago would not likely still be around unless it had been frozen.Health officials in Minnesota are investigating 22 cases of E-coli poisoning with links to ground beef sold at eight Cub Foods stores in that state. The only other grocery chains mentioned in the recall are Super-Valu and Kroger. Iowa’s largest grocery chain, Hy-Vee, says it does not buy its meat from American Foods Group.
