Iowa’s Northern District has tough sentences

December 6, 2000 By admin

A recent study shows the Northern District of Iowa ranks second among the 90 federal court districts in the U-S when it comes to the length of prison sentences. The U-S Attorney for the Northern District, Stephen Rapp, says the report is not surprising due to the number of drug cases in the area.He hopes the report makes people think twice about dealing drugs. Rapp says the report has both a positive and negative side. Positive that the drug dealers are being caught, but negative in the number of people conducting the illegal activity. The Southern District Judicial system based in Des Moines ranked 4th in the report.
