It’s okay, they’re with the band

Iowa State University officials have agreed to charter a jet and fly all 262 members of the marching band to the Insight-dot-com Bowl game. Because of cost concerns, the original plan called for chartered buses and for 37 band members to stay home. Band members protested and got their way, according to I-S-U senior Nichole Boyd, co-captain of the band’s flag line. She says the band has put a lot into the whole football experience.Boyd is from Sioux City. She says it takes a lot of dedication to participate in the marching band — especially when they have to practice outdoors on freezing cold days like today.The Cyclone football team is playing Pitt on December 28th in Phoenix, Arizona, in I-S-U’s first bowl game appearance in 22 years.
