Several agencies across the state got an early Christmas present Tuesday in the form of thousands of dollars in cash and toys. Bill Roach of the Iowa Attorney General’s office says it’s part of the settlement of a lawsuit with Toys “R” Us.Roach says the nation’s largest toy retailer agreed to the settlement with Iowa and 43 other states. He says Iowa’s share of the settlement will exceed 450-thousand dollars when everything has been paid.The Iowa settlement includes nearly 142-thousand dollars in cash and 300-thousand in toys. The toys are distributed to the “Toys for Tots” program. Roach says the toys are being paid out over three years.The company is giving 100-thousand dollars in toys over three years. The first set of toys was given to the state last year and the final set of toys will be delivered next year. Roach says the cash payment to service agencies was a one-time payment.
