A spokesperson at the Motorola Plant in Mount Pleasant says some employees will lose their jobs as the plant is being sold to a Toronto-based company called Celestica. The plant manufactures two-way radios and accessories. Motorola spokeswoman Laura Littel-Zdon approximately 530 of the 670 workers will be retained by the company. She says some workers will be asked to voluntarily give up their jobs.Littel-Zdon says if not enough people apply for a “voluntary severance package”, then the company will have to lay off some more employees. She says the workers that stay will find few changes.as the Motorola plant will be making the same products and then buying them back from the Celestica to sell. Motorola is also selling a second plant located in Dublin, Ireland.
