Democrat Senator Tom Harkin disagrees with what President Clinton reportedly said about loosening laws on marijuana use. Rolling Stone magazine quotes Clinton saying he believes people should -not- be jailed for smoking or selling small amounts of pot, but Harkin says that’s not a good solution. Harkin says the U-S needs to keep up its fight against drugs.Harkin says there is clearly -some- good in marijuana. He believes there is some need for medicinal use of marijuana for cancer pain treatment. Harkin says those patients shouldn’t be denied access to marijuana.During the 1992 campaign, Clinton admitted he’d smoked pot, but tried to avoid the stigma by saying he didn’t inhale.
