Living History Farms in Urbandale is offering you the chance to step back in time to experience what holiday dinners were like in days past. Spokesman Steve Davis says the historical organization offers two dinners, one is a farm dinner from around 1900 and the other is a more formal dinner in the 1875 Victorian Home. Davis says the dinners are an educational as well as edible experience.Historians talk about the significance of the meal and explain how they’re prepared. While the meals are cooked just as they were a century ago, Davis says they have one thing in common with the meals of today, there’s plenty of food.Davis says the meals are by reservation only, and those reservations fill up fast. The meals cost 40 dollars per person. For information on reservations, call 515-278-5286. Or visit the Living History Farms website at www.lhf.org.
