The big snowstorm hit just as predicted, making travel slow going across the state today. Sergeant Robert Hansen of the State Patrol has been out checking some of the roadways. He says conditions are poor at best and theheavy winds are compounding the problem.Hansen says there haven’t been any major accidents that he knows of yet.Reports indicate snowfall amounts from one to five inches across the state thus far, with more on the way. Some forecasts call for up to ten inches in southeastern Iowa. Gusty winds have pushed the windchills to 40 and 50 below zero across the state.
