No illnesses are reported, but there’s a risk some string cheese sold in Iowa was contaminated with a potentially deadly bacteria. A recall is underway for the cheese made by Schneider Cheese of Waldo, Wisconsin. Evan Zeppos is the company’s spokesman.Zeppos says the string cheese may have been contaminated with listeria bacteria, which can be deadly to young children, the elderly or to other people with a weak immune system. He says the cheese was sold under several names in Iowa : Midwest Pride, Gibbsville and Schneider.Zeppos says customers who bought the string cheese in question should return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.
