December 13, 2000 By admin

Mike Dunbar will remain the head football coach at the University of Northern Iowa. The University of Toledo, today, named Tom Amstutz as that school’s new coach. Dunbar was one of the coaches on the short list at Toledo and U-N-I athletic director Rick Hartzell will not be spending his holiday looking for a new coach. He says they’re happy this is all over.Hartzell says despite various reports, Dunbar never officially interviewed for the post. But Hartzell says Toledo was interested in Dunbar as they called to ask for permission to talk to Dunbar, but never interviewed the coach on campus.Dunbar has been the Panther head coach the last four seasons.
