Statehouse Republicans met in Des Moines Wednesday to set their priorities for the upcoming legislative session. Senate Majority Leader Stewart Iverson of Dows says they spent the bulk of the time talking about education.Iverson says they also discussed a variety of issues that’ve been kicked around for awhile, such as reducing the utility sales tax, the social security tax.Senator Iverson has been opposed to lowering the state’s legal blood alcohol limit, but says the pressure to do so is increasing.Iverson says he doesn’t condone drunk driving, but, he says friends in law enforcement tell him there isn’t much difference between Iowa’s current point-one level and the lower point-oh-eight standard.
