It’s considered a “Christmas Castle” in the middle of Cedar Rapids. The Brucemore Mansion is offering visitors a glimpse of what the holiday would have looked like in decades past. David Janssen, the mansion’s assistant director, says the 21-room mansion was built in 1884 and is now offering its Christmas tours on Monday through Saturday 10 a-m to 3 p-m and on Sundays from noon to 3 p-m. There are also Wednesday tours from 4 to 7 p-m. Janssen says the Queen Anne style mansion is a true beauty at this time of year, decked out for the Yuletide season. There are nine decorated trees inside the mansion this year, decorated in the 1900s style, while some areas of the home focus on 1940s-era decorations, including a revolving, lighted aluminum tree. For more information, surf to “www.brucemore.org” or call (319) 362-7375.
