It’s almost like Mother Nature is wanting to punish Iowa. The third winter storm in less than week is expected to arrive in western Iowa in several hours, and like the frigid blast that started off this week, this next one is expected to pack a wallop.Gary Forster is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in metro Des Moines. He says the concern with this latest storm isn’t so much the snowfall, but the extreme cold and high winds that will follow the snow.Winds may hit 40-miles an hour with higher gusts. Falling temperatures throughout Saturday could combine with the strong winds for wind chill factors as low as 70-degrees below zero. Forster says this storm likely won’t bring much snow with it, at least not compared to the foot of snow some parts of Iowa received earlier in the week.Central Iowa is under a Winter Weather Advisory for the rest of today. Western Iowa is under a Winter Storm Watch tonight and tomorrow while the watch extends for the rest of the state through tomorrow night.
