Much of the state has received several inches of new snow this morning, on top of almost a foot in some areas. Jeff Johnson, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in metro Des Moines, says this latest storm isn’t done dumping snow yet. He says we could still see another inch or two in central Iowa. While some areas may get seven new inches of snow today, Johnson says that’s not the big concern. A Winter Storm Warning has been extended to cover most of the western half of Iowa — roughly from Interstate 35 west. This is the fourth significant snowstorm Iowa’s seen in eight days. Johnson says we should get about one six-inch storm a season, but he says it’s not unprecedented. He says we’ve been spoiled by the past few mild winters.
