Investigators are looking for the cause of a fire early this morning thatclaimed the life of a Davenport man. The body of a 55-year-old Carl Boshell was found in his duplex abouthalf-past midnight near the back door. He apparently died of smokeinhalation. There was a smoke detector in the dwelling but it wasn’t workingdue to a low battery. Davenport Fire Marshal Mike Hayman says this fire is adeadly reminder for all Iowans to check and replace the batteries in theirsmoke detectors.It marks the eighth fire death in Iowa in nine days.
