The state’s Drug Czar is issuing a warning to parents to beware of theillegal drug “Ecstasy”. Bruce Upchurch is the Director of the Governor’sOffice of Drug Control Policy. He says the so-called party drug has turnedup in several states surrounding Iowa.Upchurch says Ecstasy can cause severe anxiety, exhaustion, dehydration andother long-lasting health problems.Upchurch says they’re trying to determine just how prevalent the drug is inIowa.Upchurch says he’s issuing a warning to get parents involved before thingsget out of hand. He says parents can make a difference by talking with theirkids about the drug.Upchurch says parents with questions can call the toll-free Substance AbuseCenter’s Information Help Line at 866-242-4111.
