A prison inmate says a sixth person was killed to halt the 1993 druginvestigation of a Mason City man. Robert McNeese led investigators to five bodies two months ago and now saysa man from Arizona was also buried near Mason City. McNeese says the man waskilled to help cover up the high-dollar methamphetamine cartel Dustin Honkenof Mason City launched in 1992 with his brother and childhood friend. Fourbodies unearthed in October west of Mason City were those of Greg Nicholson,Lori Duncan, and Duncan’s daughters. The body of Terry DeGeus (dah-goos’)was found near Burchinal in November. Nicholson and DeGeus were keywitnesses against Honken, who is serving a 27-year sentence for drugtrafficking. Investigators say all five were shot to death and buried in1993. Honken has not been charged with murder but remains the prime suspectin their deaths. His girlfriend, Angela Johnson of Klemme, was charged inJuly with five counts of aiding and abetting murder.
