Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley hopes the incoming Bush Administration doesn’trepeat an act he says was “absolutely wrong” by the Clinton Administration.Grassley says in November of 1993, all U-S Attorneys and U-S Marshals werefired in a single day in an unprecedented move.The wholesale firing of the previous Bush Administration’s law enforcementagents and prosecutors “interrupted the enforcement of law in America” in a”highly political” gesture. Grassley is sending a letter to the new BushAdministration to keep current Clinton appointees in the justice system onthe job until a smooth transition can be made.Grassley, a republican, is hopeful the new Bush Administration will take hissuggestion.Grassley says the federal attorneys and U-S Marshals shouldn’t have to worryabout getting a letter from the new administration saying as of January21st, you’re no longer on the payroll.
