While most Iowans would rather avoid driving in these slick conditions, somepeople are dedicated to doing just that — test-driving. These final days ofthe year can be the best days of the year to get a deal on a new car, according to Jim Rohden of the Iowa Auto Dealers Association.Rohden, who is the association’s vice president of marketing and services, says many dealerships in Iowa are offering a variety of year-end rebates andincentives to move their inventory. While one would think that four-wheeldrive vehicles are selling quickly now, Rohden says that’s not the case. Hesays the snowstorms have kept people away from the dealerships. While most of us dread the chore of cleaning the snow and ice off of ourcars and driveways, imagine having 200 cars and a driveway the size of aparking lot. Rohden says the recent snowstorms are creating a time-consumingtask for car dealerships as every car has to be cleaned off and mobile sothey can plow the car lot.One report says there have been more cars wrecked in the last two weeks inIowa than were wrecked in the previous two months.
