The University of Iowa’s “Virtual Hospital” has reached a milestone — morethan 100-million pages of information have been accessed on the World WideWebsite. Greg Johnson, the Virtual Hospital’s manager, says the site firstwent on-line in 1992 and was one of the first 250 websites on the Internet.Johnson says the goal was to make the Internet a useful medical referenceand health promotion tool for health care providers — and for patients.About 150 U-of-I faculty have contributed work to the website.
