Circle of prayer seeks to help farmers

December 25, 2000 By admin

Hundreds of Midwesterners now participate in a “prayer circle” that sends good tidings to thousands of farmers. The “prayer circle” was started six years ago by Reverend Karl Goodfellow of Guttenberg. About 12-hundred people prayed that year — and it’s grown every year since.Prayers are said for specific farmers, and Goodfellow says the focus is on their safety and well being during the planting and harvest seasons, when the possibility of farm injuries is greatest.Goodfellow says the farmers appreciate the support.Goodfellow doesn’t have a farm background, but his wife grew up on a farm and most of the churches he’s served have been in rural America.Goodfellow, a United Methodist pastor, lives in Guttenberg. If you’re interested in becoming part of his prayer circle, call him at 319-252-3380.
