Davenport man charge after being shot by police

January 2, 2001 By admin

A Davenport man’s being charged with attempted murder, assault of a police officer, reckless driving and other traffic violations for a weekend chase. Thirty-eight-year-old Eric Deitz has been released from the hospital. He led police on a chase about one a-m Saturday, then was shot by Davenport police when cops say he tried to run pursuing officers down with his car. Both officers have been placed on leave until a review of the shooting’s complete. Deitz was shot in the wrist.
