A new, advanced computer system will put most of state government just a click away, 24-hours-a-day. State Information Officer Richard Varn says it’ll take ’til 2004 to put ALL of state government on what he calls the computer “platform”.Varn says the beauty of the system is it allows users to analyze data.Varn says the system lets the state government store, retrieve and analyze all sorts of data, and the goal is to give the public access to most of that information by 2004. Some information, such as birth certificates, will not be made public as it’s considered confidential information. The computer “platform” was purchased months ago, but is just now going on-line.
