The first bill out of the box in the Iowa House would make dove hunting legal in Iowa. House Speaker Brent Siegrist, a republican from Council Bluffs, expects the bill to be debated Wednesday. Siegrist admits it’s not really the kind of bill he’d like to debate first. He says the bill pales in comparison to many other issues. Siegrist says hunting groups pidgeonholed candidates running for the legislature and lined up more support for the bill this year. The bill stalled at the statehouse in each of the past two years.
