International track meet returns to UNI

January 17, 2001 By admin

For the second straight year Iowans will have a chance to see some world-class athletes compete in track and field at the UNI-Dome. Former U-N-I standout Joey Woody will again host the “International Track and Field Invitational” on February 18th. Woody says among the events will be the men’s pole vault featuring Olympic gold medallist Nick Hysong, American record holder Jeff Hartwig and Olympian Chad Hartwick. Woody says one of the events still to be considered is the women’s high jump which likely would be sponsored by the U-S Track and Field Association. He says the Association could have more involvement in future meets. Woody expects this year’s event to be even more successful than last year.
