An Oelwein medical doctor faces serious charges involving prescription drugs. Dr. Steven Cook was arrested yesterday on charges of illegally obtaining prescription drugs. Cook reportedly took home the stimulant Ritalin for his own use and his family’s use. The state Board of Medical Examiners accuses Cook of habitual intoxication or addiction and the inability to practice medicine with reasonable skill and safety. Cook has closed his Oelwein practice and hasn’t renewed his medical license.
