About one hundred people will join today in an effort to establish statewide educational standards for Certified Nurse Aides. Iowa is one of the few states that has no training requirement for C-N-A’s. Diane Findley of the Iowa Caregivers Association says the lack of requirements threatens the quality of care for patients in nursing homes and hospitals.Findley says care workers can be injured, themselves, if they don’t have adequate training.Findley says some nurses assistants who’ve gone through training courses get short-changed as they work next to untrained C-N-A’s.The group, which began its meeting this morning in Des Moines, plans to lobby legislators on the issue.
