Governor Tom Vilsack will shoot down the dove-hunting bill making its way through the legislature. Vilsack won’t say whether he supports or opposes dove hunting, but he won’t approve the bill legislators have crafted. His objection? The bill gives the state natural resources commission authority to establish a dove-hunting season. Vilsack says the decision should be made by elected officials like himself and legislators rather than a band of appointed state officials. But when asked point blank whether he’d support dove hunting, Vilsack ducked the question.
