Bettendorf Library hit by hateful fliers

Hate fliers are showing up at the Bettendorf Public Library. The fliers were found in books, restrooms, wastebaskets, bulletin boards and elsewhere criticizing minorities and gun control. Library director Faye Clow says the fliers have been removed. She says it’s not a “problem” but she says they’re making sure they aren’t violating the library’s freedom of speech policy.The Library Board hopes to approve a policy change for the items it allows to be posted, to prevent offensive material from being put up — but to also ensure the freedom of speech isn’t being trampled.
