Aspiring college and high school writers still have a chance to be recognized and earn some money in the process. The University of Northern Iowa is offering nearly 20-thousand dollars in prizes at its upcoming conference on critical writing. U-N-I Modern Languages professor Jennifer Cooley is one of the organizers of the 21st annual “Celebrating Critical Writing Conference.”Cooley says students can submit essays on various English subjects. and there is also a modern languages division. She says winning writers can take home a nice prize.The largest cash prize is 500-dollars and scholarships are available, too. Cooley says advances in technology have prompted students to do more writing.Cooley says essay entries for the conference must be submitted by February 6th.
